Our Story
Our story begins in 2004 when our founder, Tony Chen, acquired a piece of history in the form of a Guangxu-period puerh brick named Songpinghao Nuercha (宋娉號女兒茶). Delving into its origins, we uncovered a fascinating tradition dating back to the Qing dynasty, where such teas were part of a princess's dowry, symbolizing marital alliances with other kingdoms or families. Marked by the Double-Happiness 囍 character, these bricks also contained subtle depictions of erotic art, serving as a discreet means of educating future generations about marital duties.
Inspired by this hidden tradition, Tony Chen embarked on a journey to establish Xizihao Daughter Tea, envisioning a legacy that spans generations. Rooted in the ethos of tradition and quality, our brand is dedicated to sourcing and producing the finest teas, reminiscent of the esteemed Haoji era teas predating the 1950s. We prioritize sourcing teas from pristine, untouched regions, nestled deep within forests, safeguarding against overharvesting and preserving the integrity of the tea's terroir.
Beyond our commitment to environmental stewardship, we celebrate the artistry of tea through collaborations with esteemed calligraphers and artists. With Tony's background in fashion and design, each tea is meticulously curated, adorned with a unique motif designed to encapsulate its essence. Our wrappers feature contemporary masterpieces by renowned calligraphers such as Wu Ji Ru, Chen Tai Yuan, Zhang Ke San, and the exquisite craftsmanship of jade artist Cui Le. This fusion of tea and art not only elevates our teas but also honors their legacy, making a bold statement of uncompromising quality.
At Xizihao Daughter Tea, we invite you to embark on a journey of taste and tradition, where every cup tells a story centuries in the making. Join us in preserving the heritage of tea for generations to come.
